It is with joy and excitement that we inform that the eating area in Brisas del Paraíso has been completed. Since our visit in February (left), local volunteers have been busy trying to make this project a reality. CARE DROPS INTERNATIONAL via TREASURES Retail store, has been able to provide for this community.
We have been told many doubted our commitment. Natives could not comprehend we wanted nothing in return. This community has been so neglected by the state and everyone else, they could not understand the 'why' behind our intentions. We are fortunate to live in a country where milk and bread flows, but for the locals, people going through great lengths to share a meal was not easy to comprehend.
We are truly humbled by the attitude we've seen in this community. Once it was understood there where no hidden motives, they organized and got to work!
Once word got out concerning the project, people began to volunteer.
After a few days, the message of love, brotherhood, and compassion was contagious.
Pastor Ruben, the local pastor for this region, informed us this location is not only being used for nutritional meals, but also as an elementary school. Its with great joy that we can say that these children are now being educated and fed in the same location. Malnutrition will no longer be an impediment for this community.
This is an incredible foundation. Now we search for resources that can help provide dewormers and multivitamins for a healthy new beginning. Additionally, we are gathering clothes, shoes, toys, and now schooling material from TREASURES, getting them ready to ship to Brisas.
